ABOUT THE JOB OPENING

WE ARE LOOKING FOR A DATA SOLUTIONS ARCHITECT TO JOIN OUR TEAM

Yonderland runs its data platform on AWS, with Snowflake, dbt and Airflow above it and a large operational database estate underneath. As our Data Solutions Architect, you will lead the design of all of it, acting as the technical reference for the data function on architecture, cloud and automation. Your work will run from the design of new implementations and integration patterns between systems, through how data is processed at volume, to how the platforms themselves are built, deployed and automated - with security, compliance and data quality built into every design. This is a hands-on role: architecture ownership paired with real engineering work, and current coding experience is required. You report to the Head of Data & AI.

YOU WILL

  • Own the architecture of the data platform, its integrations and its processing layers, from ingestion through to consumption.
  • Define how data solutions are designed, built, deployed and automated, and apply that standard across the data function.
  • Architect for high-volume, parallel and real-time processing for the workloads that need it.
  • Decide how data moves between operational and analytical systems, using event-based and contract-driven integration patterns.
  • Own cloud architecture and infrastructure-as-code practice for everything the data function runs.
  • Analyze requirements, test the assumptions behind them, and produce the end-to-end design before development starts.
  • Act as design authority, making the key architectural calls, documenting them, and answering the technical questions engineering teams bring.
  • Produce artefacts teams can build from - solution designs, trade-off analyses, data-flow diagrams, integration blueprints and risk assessments.
  • Design distributed processing - partitioning, state handling and performance - for workloads that outgrow single-node and pure-SQL approaches.
  • Define the integration patterns - APIs, events, streaming and change data capture - and the contracts that keep them stable.
  • Own cloud architecture on AWS, deciding how data services are structured, scaled, operated and costed.
  • Automate the platform using Terraform for infrastructure and CI/CD for delivery, with defined deployment and rollback procedures.
  • Design specialized AI and integration use cases, including AI-assisted workflows and real-time decisioning, and judge where they apply.

YOU HAVE

  • Senior experience architecting data platforms that run at high volume in production.
  • A track record of defining standards that other engineers went on to adopt.
  • A hands-on engineering background, with coding experience that is current.
  • Deep, hands-on architecture and operating experience on AWS (equivalent depth on Azure or GCP considered).
  • Production-level Python.
  • Experience with a high-volume parallel processing engine such as Spark or Flink, including partitioning, state handling and performance tuning.
  • Terraform experience is required, since infrastructure across the data function is managed as code.
  • Integration architecture experience - APIs, events, streaming, contracts and change data capture between operational and analytical systems.
  • Experience with a modern data platform stack: a cloud warehouse such as Snowflake, a transformation tool such as dbt, an orchestrator such as Airflow, plus strong SQL and data modelling.
  • Ability to build security, governance and data quality requirements into architecture at design time.

BONUS QUALIFICATIONS

  • AWS, Azure or GCP solutions architecture certification.
  • Experience designing AI-assisted or real-time decisioning workflows.
  • Experience in retail, e-commerce or supply chain data platforms.
  • Familiarity with streaming platforms such as Kafka or Kinesis.
  • Track record mentoring engineers or setting technical standards for a wider team.

WE HAVE

  • An international environment with headquarters in Antwerp and offices in the Netherlands, UK and Portugal.
  • Our Porto office located at Lionesa Business Hub.
  • Full-time job + permanent contract.
  • Health insurance.
  • 26 days of vacation.
  • Flexible work schedule and hybrid work model - 2 days per week at our office and 3 days working remotely.
  • Professional development opportunities.
  • Trainings.
  • Collaborative and inclusive work environment.
  • Team events like summer parties, Christmas events and much more!
